How to delete your Truthfinder account
Truthfinder is a paid background-check and people-search service operated by PeopleConnect (the same parent as Intelius, Instant Checkmate, US Search, and Classmates). Truthfinder reports include criminal records, sex offender status, court records, addresses, phone numbers, relatives, and social media profile matches. Truthfinder is heavily advertised, has aggressive lifetime-subscription upsells, and is known for difficult cancellation flows even for paying subscribers.
Delete your Truthfinder account, step by step

Before you delete
Truthfinder is part of the PeopleConnect family — you must opt out separately from Intelius, Instant Checkmate, US Search, and Classmates. Cancel any active Truthfinder subscription FIRST through your account dashboard (or, if you can't, by phone) because their subscription cancellation has been the subject of FTC and state-AG actions. Background-check reports already pulled by buyers remain in their possession; opt-out only prevents future reports.

Most platforms only honor a data-export request while the account is still active. Do this before you delete.

Does Truthfinder opt-out remove my data from Intelius and Instant Checkmate?+
No. Even though they share parent PeopleConnect, each site has its own opt-out flow. Visit each of intelius.com/opt-out, instantcheckmate.com/optout, us-search.com/people/manage, and classmates.com/help/contact separately.
Will opting out of Truthfinder erase my criminal record?+
No. Truthfinder pulls criminal records from public court systems. Removal hides the Truthfinder-rendered version but the underlying court records remain accessible through court websites. Expungement of arrest records (where eligible by state law) is a separate legal process you'd file with the court.
Can someone still buy a Truthfinder report about me after I opt out?+
After opt-out completes (1–2 weeks), Truthfinder should not generate new reports about that listing. However, reports purchased BEFORE your opt-out are still in the buyer's possession. There's no mechanism to recall a previously delivered report.
Is the opt-out process actually free?+
Yes, free at truthfinder.com/opt-out. Avoid third-party 'paid Truthfinder removal' services that charge for the same flow you can complete in 5 minutes. Reputable paid services (Scrub, DeleteMe, Kanary) are useful only if you want them to handle the broader list of 50+ data brokers and monitor for re-additions.
