How to delete your BeenVerified account
BeenVerified is a paid background-check service operated by The Lifetime Value Co. (which also runs TruePeopleSearch, NumLookup, PeopleSmart, and others). BeenVerified aggregates court records, criminal history, sex offender registries, marriage / divorce records, phone numbers, email addresses, addresses, relatives, social media profiles, and (controversially) limited financial signals. The free preview reveals enough to confirm identity; full reports are pay-per-report or subscription.
Delete your BeenVerified account, step by step
- 1Go to beenverified.com/app/optout/search
- 2Enter your first name, last name, and state
- 3Click 'Search'
- 4Find your listing in the results
- 5Click 'Proceed to opt-out'
- 6Provide an email and click 'Send Verification Email'
- 7Open the email and click the verification link
- 8Removal completes within 24–72 hours
What actually happens when you delete
Gets removed
- ✓Your specific public profile / report URL on beenverified.com
- ✓Free-search hits for your name in BeenVerified's preview
- ✓BeenVerified's mobile app search results for that record
- ✓Inclusion in BeenVerified's autocomplete and email-search index
- ✓Google indexing of the BeenVerified URL (after recrawl)
Stays behind
- ✗Records on sister sites: TruePeopleSearch, NumLookup, PeopleSmart, ReversePhoneLookup — each needs separate opt-out
- ✗Underlying database entries (unless you invoke CCPA/GDPR for broader deletion)
- ✗Court records, sex offender registries, and other public-records sources
- ✗Cached versions on Google for weeks
- ✗New records created when public-records feeds add updated data
Before you delete
Because BeenVerified, TruePeopleSearch, NumLookup, and several other sites share the same parent company (Lifetime Value Co.), they ALSO share some data — but each requires its OWN opt-out. Don't assume removing from BeenVerified takes care of TruePeopleSearch. Re-check quarterly because records repopulate. California residents can additionally file CCPA right-to-delete for broader erasure; EU users have GDPR Article 17.
Download your data from BeenVerified first
Most platforms only honor a data-export request while the account is still active. Do this before you delete.
- 1California residents can email privacy@beenverified.com under CCPA right to know. EU/UK users can demand it under GDPR Article 15. Response within 30–45 days.
If deletion fails — or you live in the EU, UK, or California
You have a legal right to request erasure of your personal data under GDPR (EU/UK) and CCPA (California). Use these official channels if the self-service flow doesn't work.
BeenVerified deletion FAQs
Does opting out of BeenVerified also remove me from TruePeopleSearch?+
No. Same parent company, separate sites. You must opt out of TruePeopleSearch.com separately. Other Lifetime Value Co. properties (NumLookup, PeopleSmart, ReversePhoneLookup) also each need their own opt-out.
How long does BeenVerified take to remove my listing?+
Typically 24–72 hours after you click the email verification link. Google search results showing your old listing can take an additional 1–4 weeks to update.
Why does my BeenVerified record include criminal history?+
BeenVerified pulls from court records, sex offender registries, and arrest databases — all public records. Removal hides the listing on BeenVerified's site but the underlying court records remain accessible directly through court systems. Some states allow expungement of arrest records if charges were dropped or you completed diversion.
Does the opt-out cover my email address and phone too?+
Yes, removal of the listing typically hides associated phone numbers, emails, and addresses tied to that record. If BeenVerified has multiple records for you (e.g., across addresses), each needs its own opt-out.
How often should I re-check BeenVerified after opt-out?+
Quarterly is reasonable. Public records and partner-data updates can repopulate your record within months. Services like Scrub, DeleteMe, and Kanary monitor automatically and re-submit when listings reappear.
What if BeenVerified shows me as 'deceased' incorrectly?+
BeenVerified ingests Social Security Death Index records and occasionally mistakes living people for deceased. Contact privacy@beenverified.com with your government ID showing you're alive. Death-record corrections are usually expedited.
