How to delete your Spokeo account
Spokeo is a Pasadena-based people-search data broker aggregating name, age, address history, phone numbers, email addresses, relatives, social media profiles, and court records. Spokeo sources data from public records, credit-header data, voter rolls, utility records, and other data brokers. Spokeo offers paid plans for full reports but the free-tier search reveals enough to confirm identity and basic location.
Delete your Spokeo account, step by step
- 1Search your name at spokeo.com to find your listing URL
- 2Go to spokeo.com/optout
- 3Paste the URL of your specific listing
- 4Enter your email address
- 5Solve the CAPTCHA
- 6Click 'Remove this listing'
- 7Open the confirmation email from Spokeo and click the verification link

What actually happens when you delete
Gets removed
- ✓Your specific public profile URL on spokeo.com
- ✓Display of phone numbers, addresses, and relatives in free results
- ✓Email-search hits matching the listing
- ✓Indexing of your listing on Google (after recrawl)
- ✓Paid-report generation off that specific record
Stays behind
- ✗Spokeo's underlying database may still contain the record (CCPA/GDPR requests force broader removal)
- ✗Data syndicated to other people-search sites
- ✗Cached profile pages on Google for weeks
- ✗New listings auto-created from fresh public records
- ✗Records about you from new addresses or phone numbers you acquire
Before you delete
Like Whitepages, Spokeo's removal does NOT prevent your record from being re-created when new public records appear. Re-check every 3–6 months. Spokeo also has affiliate sites (TruePeopleSearch is unrelated but visually similar). California residents can also file CCPA right-to-delete demanding broader erasure including from Spokeo's internal database. EU/UK users have GDPR Article 17.
Download your data from Spokeo first
Most platforms only honor a data-export request while the account is still active. Do this before you delete.
- 1California residents can email privacy@spokeo.com requesting access to personal data under CCPA. EU/UK users can demand it under GDPR Article 15. Spokeo responds within 30–45 days.
If deletion fails — or you live in the EU, UK, or California
You have a legal right to request erasure of your personal data under GDPR (EU/UK) and CCPA (California). Use these official channels if the self-service flow doesn't work.
Spokeo deletion FAQs
Is Spokeo opt-out actually permanent?+
Not by default — Spokeo's free-tier removal hides the specific URL but the underlying data can repopulate when new public records arrive. To force permanent removal of personal data from Spokeo's internal database, California residents should file a CCPA right-to-delete request to privacy@spokeo.com citing the law. EU users can use GDPR Article 17.
Why does Spokeo show my social media profiles?+
Spokeo crawls public social media and matches profiles to identity records using name/email/photo matching. Linking is automatic and often imperfect. Opting out of Spokeo removes the display; opting out of the social network itself (LinkedIn, Facebook, etc.) is separate.
How do I find all my Spokeo listings if I've lived in multiple cities?+
Spokeo may have multiple records for you (one per address). Search your name + each city you've lived in, and submit a separate opt-out for each listing URL. A single opt-out only removes one record.
Does Spokeo opt-out remove me from BeenVerified or Intelius?+
No. Each people-search site has its own database and its own opt-out flow. Removing from Spokeo does not affect BeenVerified, Intelius, Whitepages, or TruePeopleSearch — opt out from each individually or use a service like Scrub / DeleteMe to handle the long tail.
Will Spokeo opt-out stop telemarketing calls?+
Slightly. Spokeo is one of many sources for marketing lists. Stopping calls requires opting out of Acxiom, Epsilon, and major marketing data brokers, plus joining the Do Not Call registry.
What if Spokeo has me listed under an old name (maiden name, deadname)?+
Submit a separate opt-out for each name variant Spokeo lists. Each listing URL needs its own removal request. Mention this in CCPA / GDPR requests if you want all variants removed in one shot via the legal channel.
