Streaming & MediaOwned by SoundCloud Ltd.Self-service onlineDifficulty: EasyTime: instantVerified June 2026

SoundCloud is a music streaming and audio sharing platform with around 130 million monthly users, popular with independent artists and DJs. SoundCloud stores every track you uploaded, your playlists, reposts, likes, comments on tracks, followers, monetization data for Pro creators, and (for SoundCloud Premier participants) tax and royalty information.

Delete your SoundCloud account, step by step

  1. 1Sign in to soundcloud.com on a desktop browser
  2. 2Click your avatar > 'Settings'
  3. 3Open the 'Account' tab
  4. 4Scroll to 'Delete account' at the bottom
  5. 5Click 'Delete account'
  6. 6Confirm via the email SoundCloud sends within minutes
  7. 7Account and tracks are removed immediately on confirmation

What actually happens when you delete

Gets removed

  • Your username, display name, bio, and avatar
  • All uploaded tracks (originals, remixes, podcasts)
  • Playlists, reposts, likes, and comments you left
  • Followers, following, and groups
  • SoundCloud monetization history and payout setup

Stays behind

  • Reposts of your tracks by other users disappear from feeds but their playlist references may remain as 'unavailable track'
  • Cached SoundCloud embeds on blogs and websites break (return 'sound not found')
  • Records SoundCloud retains for billing, tax, and royalty compliance
  • Tracks others uploaded that sampled or quoted yours stay on their accounts
  • Comments you left on other tracks are removed but the comment thread may show 'deleted user'

Before you delete

Deletion is immediate after email confirmation — no grace period. Download your tracks and stems FIRST if you want to preserve them; SoundCloud doesn't keep a recovery copy. Cancel SoundCloud Go+, Next Pro, or Artist Pro subscription BEFORE deletion. For SoundCloud Premier monetization, settle outstanding payouts and download tax docs first. Reposts of your tracks on others' profiles disappear with the source.

Download your data from SoundCloud first

Most platforms only honor a data-export request while the account is still active. Do this before you delete.

  1. 1Open Settings > 'Account'
  2. 2Scroll to 'Download your data'
  3. 3Click 'Download data'
  4. 4SoundCloud generates an archive (account info, tracks, social graph)
  5. 5Download link arrives via email, usually within a few minutes to a day

SoundCloud deletion FAQs

Will my SoundCloud tracks be removed from playlists other people made?+

Yes — tracks are deleted from SoundCloud entirely, so playlists referencing them show 'unavailable track'. The playlist itself stays on the other user's profile but your track is no longer playable.

What happens to embedded SoundCloud players on blog posts?+

They break. Any blog post or website using a SoundCloud embed of a deleted track will show 'sound not found' or similar. There is no way to redirect or replace these embeds after deletion.

Can I delete just my tracks without deleting my account?+

Yes. Open each track > 'Edit' > 'Delete this track'. There is no bulk-delete button in the UI but third-party scripts can walk through your library via the SoundCloud API. Bulk deletion can take time if you have a large catalog.

Will SoundCloud refund my Next Pro or Go+ subscription?+

Annual subscriptions are typically not refunded for unused time. Cancel BEFORE deletion via Settings > Subscriptions so the renewal doesn't fire after your account is gone.

What about monetization earnings I haven't withdrawn?+

Payouts in flight at the time of deletion are usually processed before final account closure. Verify your tax forms and PayPal/Stripe details are current; settle any disputes BEFORE deleting so earnings aren't stranded.

Will my SoundCloud username be available to someone else?+

Deleted usernames are typically retired (not freed) to prevent impersonation of artists. You won't be able to claim the same handle on a new account.
