How to delete your Patreon account
Patreon is a recurring-subscription platform that connects creators with paying members ('patrons'), with millions of active members. Patreon stores your subscription history as a patron, your pledge amounts, payment methods, and patron-only content access. For creators, it stores tier/plan setup, member list, payout banking details, tax forms (1099-K equivalent), and the entire revenue history. Patreon is dual-sided: you may have a patron account, a creator page, or both.
Delete your Patreon account, step by step
- 1Sign in to patreon.com
- 2Click your avatar > 'Settings'
- 3Open 'Account' in the left sidebar
- 4Scroll to the bottom and click 'Permanently delete account'
- 5Enter your password
- 6Confirm — account is deleted immediately
- 7(If you have a creator page, see notes — separate process)
What actually happens when you delete
Gets removed
- ✓Your patron profile, name, avatar, and bio
- ✓Active and historical pledges from your dashboard view
- ✓Payment methods on file
- ✓Linked Discord, Twitch, and other auto-rewards
- ✓Creators: tier setup, member list, and posts (creator pages have extra steps)
Stays behind
- ✗Transaction history retained for ~7 years for tax and AML compliance
- ✗Records of payouts and 1099 forms for creators
- ✗Posts you commented on as a patron may show 'deleted user'
- ✗Content delivered to you is yours to keep but loses platform access
- ✗Records creators retain about who supported them (depending on their data export)
Before you delete
Patron-only account deletion is fast. Creators have a separate, harder path: pause your creator page first, end the current billing cycle for members, settle pending payouts, then delete. Patreon retains transaction records for ~7 years for tax/AML. Cancel active pledges BEFORE deletion or you may be charged for the next cycle. Linking apps (Discord auto-roles, Patreon-gated content) are revoked at deletion.
Download your data from Patreon first
Most platforms only honor a data-export request while the account is still active. Do this before you delete.
- 1Patreon does not offer a one-click data export. File a privacy request at the support center under 'Data and privacy' > 'Request my personal data'. Patreon responds within 30 days with personal info, transaction history, and (for creators) member data.
Want to take a break instead? Deactivate
Deactivation hides your profile without permanently destroying it. Logging back in restores everything.
- 1As a creator: pause your page (Creator settings > 'Pause page') to stop billing without deletion
- 2As a patron: cancel your individual pledges (Manage memberships > 'Edit' > 'Cancel pledge') to stop being billed without closing the account
If deletion fails — or you live in the EU, UK, or California
You have a legal right to request erasure of your personal data under GDPR (EU/UK) and CCPA (California). Use these official channels if the self-service flow doesn't work.
Patreon deletion FAQs
Will deleting Patreon cancel all my active pledges?+
Cancel your pledges BEFORE deletion to avoid being billed at the next cycle. Account deletion ends the billing relationship, but timing matters — a charge already in flight may still process.
I'm a creator — how do I delete my Patreon page?+
First pause your page (Creator settings > 'Pause page'), let the current billing cycle complete, settle pending payouts, and download your tax forms. Then contact Patreon Creator Support to fully close the creator page. The patron-side deletion is separate.
Will I get refunded for current pledges if I delete?+
Refunds are at the creator's discretion. Patreon will not retroactively refund pledges you made if the creator has already received payout. Cancel pledges first, wait for the cycle to close, then delete the account.
What happens to my Discord roles tied to Patreon?+
Patreon-Discord links are revoked on deletion, and bots like MEE6 or Patreon's official integration remove your patron-tier role. You may need to manually leave the server too if you don't want to be there as a regular member.
Will my Patreon-exclusive content I downloaded still work?+
Files you downloaded stay on your device. Streaming or per-view content that requires Patreon authentication stops working once your account is deleted because the access check fails.
Can creators see when I cancel or delete?+
Creators see when a member cancels. They don't typically see account deletion versus cancellation separately — your patron name simply disappears from their member list.
