How to delete your Linktree account
Linktree is the dominant "link in bio" platform, used by tens of millions of creators, musicians, small businesses and influencers to host a single linktr.ee/username landing page that aggregates their other profiles and offers. Behind that simple page, Linktree Pty Ltd (an Australian company headquartered in Melbourne) stores your email address, password, name, username, date of birth, profile photo, bio and social handles; billing name, billing address, payment method and purchase history for paid plans; and a rich behavioural dataset — visitor IP addresses, device and browser information, broad geographic location, referring sites and clicks on the links you published. If you connected Instagram, TikTok or YouTube it also pulled follower and engagement data, and if you ran email or SMS capture forms it holds the list of people who gave you their contact details. Deletion is self-service and takes only a few minutes, but it is permanent and there is no undo.
Delete your Linktree account, step by step
- 1Cancel any paid plan FIRST — in the Linktree Admin, click your profile image, select 'Billing', and under 'Your subscription' click 'Cancel Plan', give a reason, then confirm with 'Downgrade to Free'
- 2If you upgraded inside the Linktree iOS or Android app, do not stop at step 1 — the cancellation article links to separate instructions for app upgrades, because that subscription is billed by Apple or Google and must be cancelled in your App Store or Google Play subscription settings
- 3Export anything you want to keep. Analytics (Premium plans only): open the 'Insights' tab, go to 'Linktree activity', choose your date range with the selector in the top right, and click 'Download CSV' beneath the Activity chart. Contacts (available on all plans): go to the 'Audience' tab, open the 'Integrations' page, select 'Export CSV', set a passcode to protect the file, then check the email on your account for the download link
- 4Sign in to your Linktree Admin at linktr.ee
- 5Click your profile image and open the 'Account' page
- 6To remove only ONE profile (and keep the account), scroll to the 'Account management' section, click the three dots (•••) next to that profile, select 'Delete Linktree', then click 'Continue' in the confirmation popup
- 7To close the WHOLE account, scroll to the bottom of the 'Account' page to the 'Delete forever' section
- 8Click 'Delete account'
- 9Read the confirmation message carefully, then click 'Continue' to confirm — the deletion is permanent and cannot be reversed
- 10Optional but recommended: separately submit Linktree's Data Request Form at linktr.ee/s/about/gdpr-form (or email [email protected]) to request erasure of personal data held outside your profile, such as analytics and log records
What actually happens when you delete
Gets removed
- ✓Your profile(s) and every link, button, embed, image, custom theme and social icon on them
- ✓Your linktr.ee/username URL, which is deactivated and stops resolving for anyone who visits it
- ✓Your account credentials — the login email, password and any MFA setup
- ✓Your Insights/analytics history: profile views, link clicks, click-through rates, referrers, cities, countries and device breakdowns
- ✓Audience and subscriber lists captured through your Linktree signup forms, plus connected-account integrations with Instagram, TikTok and YouTube
- ✓Any possibility of recovery — Linktree's Terms state that once deleted you cannot reactivate the account or retrieve the content or information you added
Stays behind
- ✗The content licence you granted Linktree: the Terms describe it as 'worldwide, royalty-free and perpetual', letting Linktree use, publicly display, distribute, modify and adapt content you posted 'for as long as we like'. The Terms contain no clause ending that licence when you delete your account
- ✗Your username and email, which you cannot reuse for 14 days after deletion. Linktree does not publish any guarantee that the handle is reserved for you after that window
- ✗Billing, invoice and transaction records, which Linktree and its payment processors (Stripe, Apple, Google) retain to meet tax and accounting obligations
- ✗Personal information subject to 'limited retention' under the Privacy Notice — server logs, IP addresses, device identifiers and security records kept for legal and regulatory purposes
- ✗Copies of your old page that live outside Linktree: lingering search engine index entries and Wayback Machine snapshots, which must be removed through those services separately
- ✗Support tickets and email correspondence you exchanged with Linktree support
Before you delete
Three real gotchas. (1) There is NO undo and no cooling-off period — Linktree's own Terms say a deleted account cannot be reactivated and its content cannot be retrieved, so anything you have not exported is gone the instant you click 'Continue'. (2) A paid plan bought inside the Linktree mobile app is an Apple or Google subscription, not a Linktree one; deleting the account leaves that recurring charge running, and Linktree's Terms make payments non-refundable except at its discretion within 72 hours of cancellation, with no refund of prepaid fees. (3) The Terms grant Linktree a 'worldwide, royalty-free and perpetual' licence to use, display, distribute, modify and adapt content you posted, and contain no clause ending that licence on deletion — so removing your profile does not claw back rights to material Linktree may already have used. Separately, the in-app delete only removes profile information; log, analytics and billing data fall under 'limited retention' and require a Data Request to address. Export order matters: the contacts CSV (Audience → Integrations → Export CSV) works on all plans, but the Insights CSV is Premium-only, so free and Pro users cannot retrieve their analytics history at all. Finally, deletion does nothing about lingering search engine index entries or Wayback Machine snapshots of your old page — chase those with the respective services.
Download your data from Linktree first
Most platforms only honor a data-export request while the account is still active. Do this before you delete.
- 1Linktree has no single "download all my data" button; export is split across two places and one of them is plan-gated. Analytics (Premium plans only): open the 'Insights' tab, go to the 'Linktree activity' section, choose your date range with the selector in the top right, and click 'Download CSV' beneath the Activity chart — you receive a ZIP containing Activity, Cities, Countries, Devices and Referrers CSVs. Contacts you collected (available on all plans): in the Linktree Admin go to the 'Audience' tab, open the 'Integrations' page and select 'Export CSV', set a passcode to protect the file, then check the email on your account for the download link. For everything else Linktree holds (account records, log and device data), submit the Data Request Form at https://linktr.ee/s/about/gdpr-form or email [email protected]. Do all of this BEFORE deleting — access disappears the moment the account is closed.

- 1Linktree does not offer a true reversible deactivation or hibernation of an account. The documented alternative to full deletion is to keep the account and cancel the paid plan: in the Linktree Admin, click your profile image, select 'Billing', under 'Your subscription' click 'Cancel Plan', give a reason, and confirm with 'Downgrade to Free'. Paid features remain available until the end of the current billing cycle, and the profile stays live on the free tier. To take a page out of circulation without deleting it, the practical option is to strip out all links and content while leaving the account open.
If deletion fails — or you live in the EU, UK, or California
You have a legal right to request erasure of your personal data under GDPR (EU/UK) and CCPA (California). Use these official channels if the self-service flow doesn't work.
Linktree deletion FAQs
Can I get my Linktree back after I delete it?+
No. Linktree's Terms are explicit: 'if you delete your account, you won't be able to reactivate it or retrieve any of the content or information you have added to your profile.' There is no grace period, no trash folder and no reactivation window — unlike Instagram, which holds a deleted account for 30 days before erasing it. Support cannot restore it either. Screenshot your page and export your Insights and Audience CSVs before you click 'Delete account'.
Does deleting my Linktree free up my username so I can grab it again?+
Not immediately, and not on any published schedule. Linktree's help article states you 'won't be able to use the same username or email for 14 days' after deletion, so you are locked out of your own handle for two weeks. Linktree does not document what happens to the handle after that window or promise to hold it for you, so treat reclaiming it as uncertain. If all you want is a different handle, don't delete — use 'Change username' from the three-dot menu in 'Account management' instead, though changes are limited to once every 7 days.
Will deleting my account stop my Pro or Premium billing?+
Don't rely on it. Cancel the plan first via 'Billing' → 'Cancel Plan' → 'Downgrade to Free'; paid features stay available until the end of the current billing cycle. Critically, if you subscribed inside the Linktree iOS or Android app, the charge is an Apple or Google subscription — Linktree's cancellation article routes app upgrades to a separate set of instructions for exactly this reason, and you must cancel through your App Store or Google Play subscription settings or you will keep being billed for a profile that no longer exists. Linktree's Terms say that 'to the extent permitted by applicable law, payments are non-refundable', with a discretionary exception if you cancel a paid plan within 72 hours, and no refund of fees paid in advance.
I have several Linktrees — can I delete just one without closing my account?+
Yes. On the 'Account' page, scroll to 'Account management', click the three dots (•••) next to the specific profile, choose 'Delete Linktree' and confirm with 'Continue'. Only that profile is removed; your other profiles and your login stay active. The 'Delete forever' → 'Delete account' option at the very bottom of the page is the one that closes everything.
What happens to the Linktree link in my Instagram bio and on my printed QR codes?+
They break. Your linktr.ee/username URL is deactivated when you confirm deletion, so the link in your Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and X bios, any QR codes on business cards, flyers or merch, and any link a fan or partner pasted into their own page will lead to a dead page. Replace those links everywhere before you delete, since you have no control over where that URL points once the account is gone.
Deleting my profile doesn't remove everything — how do I make Linktree erase the data it still holds on me?+
Linktree's Privacy Notice says deleting your account 'will remove your profile information from the Linktree Services, subject to limited retention as described in this Privacy Notice' — analytics, log and billing data are not covered by the in-app delete button. To reach that data, submit the Data Request Form at linktr.ee/s/about/gdpr-form or email [email protected]. GDPR (EU/UK) and CCPA/CPRA (California) give you enforceable access, correction, deletion and portability rights; residents elsewhere can still ask, and Linktree will verify your identity before responding. Note that the perpetual content licence in the Terms is contractual and is not waived by a deletion request.
