How to delete your DeviantArt account
DeviantArt is one of the longest-running online art communities, founded in 2000 and acquired by Wix in 2017. DeviantArt stores every piece of art you uploaded (originals, full-resolution copies, thumbnails), journal posts, comments, favourites, watcher list, group memberships, llama badges, and (for Core subscribers) subscription history. Many DeviantArt accounts have 15+ years of uploads and a deep public footprint that's heavily indexed by Google.
Delete your DeviantArt account, step by step
- 1Sign in to deviantart.com
- 2Go to deviantart.com/users/delete-account directly
- 3Or navigate: Settings (gear icon) > 'Account' tab > 'Delete account'
- 4Read the warnings about content removal
- 5Enter your password
- 6Click 'Delete account'
- 7Account enters a 21-day grace period then is permanently deleted

Before you delete
DeviantArt has a 21-day grace period — log in within that window to cancel deletion. Download your full gallery FIRST; DeviantArt's bulk download is limited so you may need to script it or save deviations individually. Core subscribers should cancel BEFORE deletion. If you're a Group founder, transfer the group to another member or it gets deleted. Commissions, prints, and DeviantArt Cash balance are forfeited.
Download your data from DeviantArt first
Most platforms only honor a data-export request while the account is still active. Do this before you delete.
- 1DeviantArt does not currently offer a self-service data export. Use the gallery browser to download high-res files individually, or file a GDPR/CCPA data access request through the privacy policy contact. DeviantArt responds within 30 days with a downloadable archive of personal data.
If deletion fails — or you live in the EU, UK, or California
You have a legal right to request erasure of your personal data under GDPR (EU/UK) and CCPA (California). Use these official channels if the self-service flow doesn't work.

Will my DeviantArt artwork be removed from Google after deletion?+
Cached images can persist on Google Images for weeks to months. Once deviantart.com returns 404s for your old URLs, Google drops them on its next crawl. For specific images, use Google's 'Remove outdated content' tool to speed up removal.
What happens to my DeviantArt Core or Premium subscription?+
Cancel BEFORE deletion via Settings > Subscription. DeviantArt generally doesn't refund unused subscription time on account closure. Apple App Store subscriptions cancel through Apple, not DeviantArt.
Can I delete just specific deviations without deleting my account?+
Yes. Open each deviation > '...' menu > 'Delete'. For bulk deletion, the Stash and gallery views let you select multiple items at once. There is no 'delete all' button — go in batches.
What happens to groups I founded?+
If you're the sole admin of a group, the group is deleted with your account and all member submissions are lost. Transfer founder/co-founder rights to another active member BEFORE deletion to preserve the group.
Will DeviantArt Cash and earnings be paid out?+
Settle DeviantArt Cash balance via cash-out BEFORE submitting deletion. Once the account is gone, unclaimed balance is forfeited. Print sales pending shipment continue but you lose access to the orders dashboard.
How can I recover my DeviantArt account during the 21-day grace period?+
Log in to deviantart.com within 21 days and follow the prompt to cancel deletion. After day 21 the account is unrecoverable, even by support staff.
