How to delete your Adobe account

Developer & TechOwned by Adobe Inc.Self-service onlineDifficulty: ModerateTime: instantVerified June 2026

An Adobe ID is the master identity for Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Premiere, Illustrator, Lightroom, etc.), Acrobat, Adobe Stock, Adobe Sign, Behance, and Portfolio. Adobe stores your subscription history, every cloud document you saved, Lightroom-synced photos, font licenses, Adobe Stock images you licensed, Behance projects, and the device list of every machine Creative Cloud was activated on. Deletion is destructive across all these services at once.

Delete your Adobe account, step by step

  1. 1Sign in to account.adobe.com
  2. 2Open the 'Account and security' section, then 'Sign-in and security'
  3. 3Or go directly to account.adobe.com/privacy
  4. 4Click 'Delete account'
  5. 5Read what gets removed (every Adobe service tied to this ID)
  6. 6Enter your password and (if enabled) your 2FA code
  7. 7Confirm — deletion is immediate and irreversible

What actually happens when you delete

Gets removed

  • Your Adobe ID, profile, and login
  • Creative Cloud files, Lightroom-synced photos, and shared libraries
  • Behance projects, followers, and appreciations
  • Portfolio (myportfolio.com) sites
  • Adobe Stock license history and licensed assets (still usable in past projects but no re-download)

Stays behind

  • Documents you signed via Adobe Sign / Acrobat remain valid PDFs in the other party's possession
  • Records Adobe retains for tax, billing, and audit (typically 7 years)
  • Files you exported and saved locally remain on your computer
  • Comments and likes you left on other Behance projects (may be re-attributed)
  • Cached images from your Behance projects on Google and design archives

Before you delete

Cancel your Creative Cloud subscription FIRST or you may owe an early-termination fee depending on plan type (annual plans charge 50% of the remaining months when cancelled before the year is up). Sign out of Creative Cloud on every device so you don't trip the device limit. Behance projects and Portfolio sites are deleted with the Adobe ID. Adobe Sign / Acrobat signed documents remain valid as PDFs but you lose access to the signing dashboard and audit trail.

Download your data from Adobe first

Most platforms only honor a data-export request while the account is still active. Do this before you delete.

  1. 1Go to account.adobe.com/privacy
  2. 2Under 'Access your personal information', click 'Submit a request'
  3. 3Pick the data categories you want
  4. 4Verify via email
  5. 5Adobe responds within 30 days with a downloadable archive

You have a legal right to request erasure of your personal data under GDPR (EU/UK) and CCPA (California). Use these official channels if the self-service flow doesn't work.

Adobe deletion FAQs

Will deleting my Adobe ID cancel my Creative Cloud subscription?+

Adobe asks you to cancel the subscription first, and the deletion flow may be blocked while a paid plan is active. If you have an annual plan and want to cancel mid-term, Adobe charges 50% of the remaining months as an early-termination fee unless you're inside the 14-day cooling-off period.

What happens to my Lightroom synced photos when I delete my Adobe ID?+

All Lightroom-synced (cloud) photos are deleted. Use Lightroom Classic to download originals to local disk first, or export all your photos from Lightroom CC on the web before deleting.

Will my Behance projects be removed?+

Yes. Behance is part of Adobe and your projects, appreciations, and followers are removed with the Adobe ID. Export individual projects as PDF or download the source assets before deletion.

What about documents I signed using Adobe Sign or Acrobat?+

Documents that were already signed and delivered remain valid PDFs in the recipients' files. You lose access to the signing dashboard and audit log. Download any audit-trail PDFs you might need for legal purposes before deletion.

Can I delete just the Behance / Portfolio side without deleting Creative Cloud?+

Yes for Behance — open Behance settings > Privacy > 'Deactivate or delete Behance profile'. This removes Behance only. Portfolio is tied to the Adobe ID; you can take Portfolio sites offline individually without deleting the Adobe ID.

What about my Adobe Stock images?+

Licensed Stock images can stay in projects where you already used them (the license travels with the project), but you cannot re-download them from your Stock library after deletion. Save all licensed assets locally first.
